Annual sardine edition 1936-1949 (bulk1939-1949) newspapers.

Collection consists of annual editions of the Monterey Peninsula Herald devoted to the local sardine industry, published at the close of the fishing season, commencing with the issue dated February 19, 1936. The second and third editions are missing. The remaining editions from February 24, 1939 through February 4, 1949 are included, with some only partial. There is an additional edition, dated July 3, 1946, published in conjunction with the flag-raising bicentennial of that year. Three articles by Edward F. Ricketts, based on his and other scientific studies of the sardine, appeared in the February 27, 1942, the March 7, 1947, and the April 2, 1948 editions.
